Taste Profile
Midnight Oil is a bold, traditional European blend that pays homage to the old-school palate. This three-bean recipe offers a delightfully intense flavour profile with rich notes of bittersweet chocolate, warming spices, and smoked cedar. Don't be fooled by this blend's name, it is developed just shy of a true dark roast in order to avoid any undesirable burnt, char-like flavours, or oily residues that will gum up your coffee grinders.
Formulation
The core of Midnight Oil is a Sumatran wet-hulled bean, renowned for its molasses-like sweetness, earthy and chocolatey umami notes, mixed over a blend of our Mexican Chiapas and Mogiana Beans. Sourced from family-owned farms in Aceh, on the island of Sumatra, this bean is supported by the KSU Gayo Mandiri cooperative. The cooperative reinvests in the community's infrastructure and healthcare
Brewing:
Midnight Oil is a versatile blend, ideal for those appreciate bolder flavour, less acidity and want a heavier bodied cup. With this blend, you can make:
